Nothing stands still for long in the world of interiors and sofas are no exception!
If you are looking to buy a new sofa and need a little inspiration, we have pulled together a summary of the most recent trends this year…..
Nothing says luxury quite like velvet! Add a vintage feel of past prestige to your living room with a velvet sofa. A classic stately style with luxurious velvet in rich colours is sure to add a touch of class and decadence to any room. Alternatively, to achieve a modern look choose a velvet sofa with huge soft cushions in a fun bright colour to become the centrepiece of any room.
This year we have seen a revival of muted pastel shades. The inclusion of a sofa in subtle pinks and muted blues adds an air of sophistication and charm to any room, especially fitting in with the minimalistic aesthetic which is so hot right now in interior design. There are many benefits in choosing a pastel sofa including the fact that fading is less obvious than on bright colours, yet if you have kids or pets this may not be the option for you as marking is often more obvious on pale fabrics.
Yes – you heard it right….. Blue is the new black.
Injecting a shot of blue into any lounge or living room adds a touch of class and vibrancy. Offering a welcome shift from the more traditional monochrome shades, we have embraced the blue trend whether it be with blue sofas such as the one below or with blue scatter cushions and accessories. Whilst we are yet to receive a commission for a denim bespoke sofa, we are seeing denim creep into many of the interiors publications and think that only time will tell whether denim is here to stay or a passing fad in the world of sofas!
You will either love them or hate them, but bold stripes have been seen everywhere this year. Not for the faint hearted, this confident look adds bags of personality to any room and really makes a statement. These stripes however can also be toned down with smaller lines in more muted shades for a trend that is never out of fashion.
The colour yellow has really been out in force this year, seen on catwalks and in homes alike. If you are looking to make a statement with your sofa, why not consider a yellow or mustard coloured sofa as an accent in a simple room. Keep the design modern and stylish yet not fussy so the colour is the real focus. Not brave enough to go for a yellow sofa or chair? Try accessorising a navy sofa with mustard cushions for a striking and contemporary look.
